The Ultimate Guide to Reach Bellagio

Nestled on the shores of the breathtaking Lake Como, Bellagio is a picturesque gem that beckons visitors from around the world. If you’re planning a visit to this idyllic destination and looking for the best ways to reach Bellagio, you’re in the right place. In this article, we’ll explore various methods to reach Bellagio to ensure your journey is seamless and enjoyable.

By Boat

One of the most enchanting ways to arrive in Bellagio is by boat. Lake Como’s pristine waters are known for their crystal-clear beauty, and a boat trip offers an unforgettable experience. If you’re staying in or around the Lake Como area, you can catch the public ferry or you can get a private boat with us, headed to Bellagio. Without any doubts, by boat is the most beautiful way to reach Bellagio, even because you can see everything between the departure point and Bellagio itself: historical villas, natural waterfalls and traditional villages by the water.

Note: for the public ferry there is always a long long (hours) queue to get the tickets. And you can’t do the 2 ways ticket. So, you have to queue 2 times: at departure and on site to come back. The big problem is that you will find it sold out.

By Car

For those who prefer a more independent journey, arriving in Bellagio by car is a convenient option. The town is connected by road, and you can follow the picturesque lakeside road that winds its way around Lake Como. Pay attention to the fact that the street is very narrow, especially the second half. Be sure to check for any parking restrictions and availability in Bellagio, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Another option is to drive up from the opposite side and park in Menaggio. From here you can get a 10 mins ferry and you can explore Bellagio and eventually Varenna. Ferries are every few mins. Much better option.

Car

By Train

If you’re coming from a distant location, the train is an excellent choice. The nearest major train station is in Milan. From Milan, you can take a train to Varenna-Esino, a town on Lake Como’s eastern shore. From Varenna, you can catch a 10’ ferry to Bellagio. The train journey provides a comfortable and efficient way to reach the lake, and the ferry ride to Bellagio adds to the overall experience.

Train

By Air

If you’re arriving from abroad or a distant region, the nearest airport to Lake Como is Milan’s Malpensa Airport. From Malpensa, you can take a train, bus, or taxi to reach the Lake Como area. Alternatively, consider flying into Milan Linate Airport or Bergamo Orio al Serio Airport, which are also within reach of Lake Como. Once you’re in the area, you can follow one of the methods mentioned above to get to Bellagio.

Airplane

By Bus

Another option is to take a bus to Bellagio. There are regular bus services that connect nearby towns, including Como and Lecco, to Bellagio. This is a cost-effective way to travel and still offers scenic views along the way.
